Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South zone to remain united and work collaboratively to strengthen the party’s prospects in the region ahead of the 2027 elections.
Fubara made the appeal while addressing delegates at the APC South-South Zonal Congress held in Asaba. He emphasized that unity and a shared sense of purpose are essential for achieving the party’s goals and improving its electoral performance.
“We can only achieve our goal when we are united and we work together. I strongly believe this is the right time, with the right people, in the right place,” the governor said. He added that those elected at the congress would face significant responsibilities but expressed confidence in their ability to deliver for the party.
The governor also voiced optimism that the newly elected zonal leadership would rise to the occasion. He commended the Delta State Government for hosting the congress and expressed hope that the South-South region would continue to play a pivotal role in the party’s success.
The congress, which drew top figures of the APC across the zone, witnessed the re-election of zonal leaders through a consensus arrangement. The reinstated officials were subsequently inaugurated during the event.
Among the dignitaries present were Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Governors Douye Diri, Monday Okpebholo, Umo Eno, Bassey Otu, and Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside members of the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly from across the South-South region
