The Rivers State Executive Council has revoked the ₦134 billion contract earlier awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) for the reconstruction of the State Secretariat Complex.

The contract, which was awarded during the period of emergency rule in the state, was terminated following a review by the Council. The company has also been directed to refund the ₦20 billion mobilization fee it had received.

Meanwhile, the Council approved the constitution of a six-man committee chaired by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, to assess and recommend suitable locations for the construction of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the state to enhance the conduct of external examinations.

In addition, the flood control committee, also headed by the Deputy Governor, was instructed to take immediate measures to mitigate flooding across the state, while residents were advised to avoid blocking drainage channels to prevent further environmental hazards.
