Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has promised to rehabilitate the Rex Lawson cultural centre located on Bonny Street, old Port Harcourt Township, in Port Harcourt Local Government Area.

Governor Fubara gave the assurance on Monday when he visited the Center to inspect the facility that was left in locks-and-key shortly after it was reconstructed and commissioned on June, 2018 by the immediate past administration.

He said, ” We are here to assess this facility. It’s an art facility that was constructed by the previous administration, and for a while, it has not been put to use.

“As you can see for yourself, the facility is in deplorable state. We are looking at the possibility of fixing it to encourage our young ones that are into art and culture to use.

“We intend to bring up a training school, and part of our programme is to use this particular facility as a base for it. That is the reason why we are here.

“I think it’s not as bad as they said. We can salvage a lot of things here and put it to good use,”
