Former Rivers State Head of Service, Dr. George Nweke, has accused suspended Governor Siminilayi Fubara of planning to use oil pipeline sabotage as a political weapon.
Dr. Nweke claimed that Governor Fubara had confided in him about plans to use militant groups and oil disruptions to influence national politics. “He told me that at the right time, they would tell the boys what to do, and funding was not an issue,” Dr. Nweke stated.
According to him, the initial targets were oil facilities in non-Ijaw-speaking areas, a move designed to deflect blame while advancing a broader political agenda. He also accused Governor Fubara of funneling large sums of state resources into securing support from influential figures and media networks.
Dr. Nweke called on President Tinubu to maintain strict vigilance over Rivers State, warning that those behind these alleged plots have not given up on their agenda. “The Sole Administrator must step up security measures to prevent further destabilization attempts,” he urged.
These allegations add a new dimension to the already tense political situation in Rivers State, with calls for further investigation into Dr. Nweke’s claims.
