Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has directed immediate steps toward refurbishing the sections of the State Secretariat Complex affected by Monday’s fire outbreak in Port Harcourt.
The Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi Brown, disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the scene of the incident. She confirmed that no lives were lost in the fire, which broke out at the right wing of the ground floor of the Podium Block.
According to Dr. Brown, the fire was swiftly contained through a combined effort of the Rivers State Fire Service, Renaissance, the Federal Fire Service, and the military.
“It was a combined effort, and as we speak, the fire has been contained,” she stated.
The Head of Service expressed gratitude to God and commended Governor Fubara for revamping the state’s fire service, noting that the investment helped avert a major disaster.
