A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has declared that Governor Siminalayi Fubara remains the leader of the APC in Rivers State.
Eze dismissed as inconsequential recent comments by the Chairman of the National Green Wall Commission, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, who had claimed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is the leader of the APC in the state.
In a statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Eze argued that neither Wike nor Abe has any legitimate stake in the APC to justify what he described as persistent interference in the party’s affairs, which he said does not add value to the party’s electoral prospects.
The APC chieftain recalled that Senator Abe defected from the party ahead of the 2023 general elections to contest the governorship under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), an election he failed to win, including at his own polling unit in Ward 16, Bera Town, Gokana Local Government Area.
Eze further stated that Wike, on his part, has remained without a political party following what he described as his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that this disqualifies him from laying claim to leadership within the APC in Rivers State.
