Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has directed retired permanent secretaries still in office to prepare their handover notes as he swore in Dr. Dagogo Wokoma as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Barr. Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff at Government House.
Governor Fubara charged the new appointees to discharge their duties professionally, warning against politicising their offices.
He advised the Chief of Staff to refrain from holding unauthorised meetings or engaging in external political activities without prior approval, stressing that the position is to serve as his personal aide and support the administration’s objectives.
He emphasised that the appointments are not political empowerment but a responsibility to serve the state and strengthen the government.
Dr. Wokoma, a Mathematics lecturer, was urged to apply his academic expertise and experience to ensure thoroughness, objectivity, and respectful representation of the state government.
Governor Fubara reiterated his administration’s commitment to sustaining ongoing projects and advancing inherited programmes, noting that the priority remains the success, peace, and prosperity of Rivers State. He warned that any actions capable of embarrassing the government would not be tolerated, assuring that he would closely monitor the new appointees’ activities.
The governor expressed confidence in his choices, describing the appointments as the right decision to support the administration’s goals. He called for cooperation across the civil service, stressing that the remaining period of his administration must focus on productive work and collective success
