Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reacted to the screening of nine commissioner-nominees by the Rivers State House of Assembly, describing the exercise as rigorous.
The governor spoke during the swearing-in ceremony of five nominees who were cleared by the Assembly.
Addressing the newly inaugurated commissioners, Fubara said the thorough screening process they underwent by the legislature already served as a charge for them to perform their duties diligently.
“My comment should be to charge you on what you are supposed to do and how you are supposed to operate. But I think that aspect has already been taken care of by the House of Assembly,” he said.
The governor noted that passing through what he described as one of the most rigorous screening processes was enough evidence that the commissioners are capable of delivering on their responsibilities.
“For those of you who succeeded, you are fit and ready to deliver to the state. So I’m not going to charge you with anything. The charge is already there. The screening was a charge,” he added.
Fubara, however, wished the commissioners success in office, stressing that he expects nothing less than their best in service to the state.
