The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has congratulated mothers across the state as they mark this year’s Mothering Sunday.
In a goodwill message to commemorate the occasion, the governor praised women for their strength, resilience, and dedication to raising children who will become the nation’s future leaders.
Speaking on behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, Fubara extended warm greetings to mothers and acknowledged the vital role they play in building families and communities.
He noted that the love, care, and sacrifices of mothers remain the foundation of society, describing their commitment to nurturing families as invaluable to the development of the state and the nation.
In Nigeria, Mothering Sunday is widely observed as both a religious and social event, celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent in many churches, particularly within the Anglican Communion. The day honours mothers and maternal figures through church services, family gatherings, gift presentations, and other activities that recognise their contributions to the family and society.
The message was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi.
