Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate implementation of skipping and accoutrement allowances for health workers covering 2023, 2024 and 2025. He also gave approval for the payment of residency grants to medical doctors under the Rivers State Government Service.
The Governor made the announcement during a meeting with leaders of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) in Port Harcourt.
Governor Fubara said the initiative forms part of his commitment to reposition the state’s health sector and promote the welfare of medical professionals. He assured that more healthcare workers would be employed to boost service delivery across the state, adding that payment of arrears of adjusted CONMESS and CONHESS for 2023 would be prioritised.
The meeting was attended by the Health Commissioner, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu Alikor, Director of Medical Services, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, as well as representatives of the Nigerian Medical Association and Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria
