Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has rolled out interim relief measures for residents of Bille Kingdom in Degema Local Government Area to cushion the impact of ongoing environmental degradation in the area.
Speaking during a working visit to Bille on Wednesday, the governor reassured the community of his administration’s concern for their health and overall welfare.
Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to securing a long-term solution to the persistent gas emissions affecting the community’s land and water sources since November 2025.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, the governor also announced immediate interventions to tackle pressing needs, including access to clean water and essential healthcare services.
As part of the response, the state government approved the release of ₦100 million as palliative support for the affected residents.
