The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to establish a Driving Training Centre at the University of Port Harcourt.
A delegation from the FRSC headquarters inspected proposed facilities at the Centre for Logistics and Transport Studies, NEMA House, on Friday as part of preparations for the project, which falls under the Driving School Standardization Programme (DSSP).
FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, represented by the Head of Driving School, Sunday Attah, said the facilities met the corps’ requirements and described UniPort as a strategic choice for the pilot scheme. He added that similar centres would be set up in other parts of the country.
During a courtesy visit to the university management, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Chukwudi Onyeaso, pledged the institution’s support for the initiative, describing it as a contribution to academic excellence and national development.
