The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)in Rivers State has identified over speeding as the cause of the tragic crash that claimed the lives of three students of the University of Port Harcourt.
This was disclosed by the FRSC Commandant in Rivers State, Inyang Umoh, in a statement issued on Thursday. According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the ill-fated vehicle was on high speed when he rammed into a stationary trailer.
Umoh expressed concern over the rising rate of avoidable crashes in the state, stating that “most of the accidents we record are man-made and not spiritual.” He warned drivers against over speeding, drunk driving, and failure to properly maintain their vehicles.
With the ongoing rainy season, the Commandant urged motorists to exercise greater caution on the roads to prevent further tragedies.
