Fresh Manna 9 July
MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Now if any man build upon this foundation; gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubb, every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire, and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.” (1cor.12:13)
READ: 1COR.3:10-15
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
It has been said that the strength of every building is the foundation; this is true. From our meditation scripture for today, we discovered that we have the best foundation. Our faith is founded on Christ who is the living Word of God, the eternal Father. In the book of John, Jesus satisfied this claim when he said, “I assure you, I am the door of the sheep, all who came before me are thieves and robbers but the sheep didn’t listen to them” (Jn.10:7-8). As God’s children, we have been called to contribute in building of the body of Christ. Jesus has laid the foundation with His blood on mount Calvary.
Our responsibility is to build the body unto maturity. In doing this noble task, we must be careful with the materials we are building with. Two types of materials are mentioned in our text. The noncombustible such as gold, silver and precious stone, the combustibles are wood, hay, and straw. These materials represent quality and motives behind our services to the Lord and His people. Unfortunately, we live in a time and season where there are so many praise singers and sycophants who work only to be seen of men. Always remember that your work will pass through the fire of God’s judgment to determine its quality. Any service that must stand the test of fire, must have the fragrance of selfless love, godly fear and genuine devotion to God and man.
TURNING POINT: Any service that must stand the test of fire, must have the fragrance of selfless love, godly fear and genuine devotion to God and man.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to build with the right materials.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: JOB.31,32; ACTS 13:1-23.
