MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eaten the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.”(Jere. 31:30).
READ: GEN.3:1-9
Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Today there is so much noise about ancestral sins, evil inheritance and so on. People blame their weakness and lack of self-control on their progenitors, using it as an excuse to gain sympathy and continue in their mess. The idea that you cannot overcome that evil trait because you inherited it from your foundation is a lie from the pity of hell. It disputes the power of regeneration and makes nonsense, the biblical claim of the efficacy of the blood of the lamb. Yes, evil foundations exist, genetical weakness is a reality, but the power of atoning blood of Christ, is real too.
Apostle Paul in the book of Romans, asked a question, “shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” God forbid is the response. The first step towards deliverance from any evil habit or genetical weakness so called is to take responsibility for your actions. This was where our first parents failed. Adam blamed his weakness on Eve, “the woman thou gavest to be with me, she gave me and I ate (Gen.3:12). On her own part, mother Eve blamed the serpent, “the serpent, he beguiled me, and I did eat (verse 13). Any time you make out excuses over any flaw in your life, whether character or otherwise, you are strengthening Satan’s hold over your life. Defeat, whether it is moral, psychological, spiritual, physical or mental is not our DNA. Pray where you have to, seek deliverance where necessary and counsel from spiritually mature people, enforce your freedom and enjoy abundant life.
TURNING POINT: Any time you make out excuses over any flaw in your life, whether character or otherwise, you are strengthening Satan’s hold over your life.
PRAYER POINT: Father, I take responsibility for all my failures. Forgive me and deliver me in Jesus name.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: JOB 23,24,25; ACTS 10:24-48.
