MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” (2 Tim.2:2)
READ: 2 TIM. 2: 19-21
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
Godly patterns and legacies have been built and are being built over the years in churches, communities and Christian homes. But the inability of the older generation to pass these patterns down to the next generation is the greatest challenge of our time. Thus, we have dedicated and committed servants of God, whose children are hooligans and injurious fellows like Saul of Tarsus. Denzel Washington is the son of Denzel Hayes Washington, an ordained Pentecostal minister. Today, he is a secular theater artiste, caring little or nothing about the God his father served. Alice Cooper grew to become a great actor and singer, with little or no Christian values, though her parents were gospel ministers. I know that in your own part of the world or even the church where you worship, you may not be comfortable with the lifestyle of your pastor’s children or you may also be a derailing pastor’s kid reading this today.
Christian education is not just the concern of pastors or elders. It is our collective responsibility as a body to let the light shine from us to the next generation. Paul gave us a formula. Talking to Timothy, he said, “And the things that thou hast heard of me… the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” Passing the legacy of godliness and sound Christian heritage is a deliberate act we all must pursue with zest and vigor. Don’t take things for granted; don’t conclude that the young people around you are making it, simply because they attend church regularly. Unfortunately, most of our children and teenage workers are untrained, so they lack the techniques on how to reach out to this ones effectively. Our children, teenagers, and youths are our future: failure to invest in their spiritual life and maturity, spells doom for the entire Christendom.
TURNING POINT: Our children, teenagers, and youths are our future: failure to invest in their spiritual life and maturity, spells doom for the entire Christendom.
PRAYER POINT: LORD, help us to pass the legacy of truth and Godliness to the next generation.
