MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Heb.12:12)
READ: 2 COR. 4: 1-2
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
Fainting is defined as a temporal loss of consciousness because of temporal decrease in blood supply to the brain. Fainting is caused by extreme loss of energy. In the context of this meditation, it means to be disheartened, fagged out, or extremely exhausted. Spiritually fainting describes the state of weakness towards God and the course of Christ. In the book of Romans, Paul the apostle gave us a catalog of issues that could lead to fainting. Persecutions, disappointments of life, betrayal, pains etc. Sometimes when you don’t seem to understand the moves of God, it can also lead to fainting. But our reference scripture makes it clear that harvest is possible only when we do not give up. Jesus confirmed this testimony in His revelation to John the beloved at the island of Patmos. He declares “He that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame and am set down with my Father in His throne”. (Rev.3:21).
Satan may give you a thousand reasons why you should quit this Christian journey, but look around you and in your life, you will discover ten thousand reasons why you must keep the faith. Paul declared to the Christians, “Seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not” (1cor.4:1).
God’s faithfulness, His mercy that chose and saved us is enough reason for us to remain steadfast. The crown is fitted on the head of the overcomers not quitters. Be an overcomer.
TURNING POINT: The crown is fitted on the head of the overcomers not quitters. Be an overcomer.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to stand to the end.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: PS.132,133,134,135; 1COR.8
