MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And other sheep I have which are not of his fold, them also I must bring and they shall hear my voice and there shall be one fold and shepherd.” (Jn.10:16)
READ: JN. 10:11-16
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. 15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Jesus is not only called the good shepherd in the scripture; He is also called the great shepherd of the sheep (Heb.13:20). This means that His flock is great. In our meditation scripture we see that His flock is not totally gathered yet. The process of gathering is on right now. This is the reason why He gave power and authority to the church (His flocks) and raised ministers (shepherds) whom He gave as gift to the church. This scripture is pointing to two important truths in the church. First is the need of passionate evangelism and soul winning ”them also I must bring”. Jesus has completed His assignment and gone back to heaven. He will no longer come down, walk the street of Jericho and call men and women unto salvation.
The church has received the mandate to evangelize the world. We must rise up to the occasion, seek the lost sheep and bring them into the fold. ”that there may be one fold and one shepherd”. Children of God, church leaders, and Para-church organizations must come to this understanding that the body of Christ is one. Any leader in the Church, general overseer or local church pastors whose preaching and teaches only widens already existing gap in the body of Christ is a spoiler. Unity and synergy is both the beauty and the strength of the church. God’s plan for the church is “that there may be one shepherd and one flock.” any anointing that works against this purpose has a selfish end.
TURNING POINT: Unity and synergy is both the beauty and the strength of the church.
PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, energize me to gather and to build with you.
