MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.” (Judg.6:2).
READ: JUDGES 5:23-31
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. 2 And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds. 3 And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them; 4 And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. 5 For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
The first verse of this chapter says, ”And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.” Until we understand that our success, victory and well-being are totally dependent on our relationship and closeness to God, we will continue to suffer the pains and captivity of the enemy. Israel was enslaved again, this time by the Midianites. “The hand of Midian prevailed.”
Few days ago, we saw that the mighty Sisera. The captain of Kind Jabin’s Army, was killed by a woman, right in her own house with Cup of milk and tent of peg. This shows that it was the hand of God that pinned Sisera to the ground and killed him. David killed Goliath with a sling and stone, the giant fell face down and never rose again. God killed the Giant. Before now, Israel had fought and conquered more powerful enemies and possessed their land; but here we see them wriggling in pain under the oppression of the Midianites, because God has given them up to their own mischief. Our domination and victory is in Christ, any departure from faith or entertainment of compromise opens the door for satanic operation and slavery.
Satan is an oppressor that never let go of his prisoners. Anytime you step out of God purpose and programme for your life, you may be stepping into a long period of captivity.
TURNING POINT: Our domination and victory is in Christ, any departure from faith or entertainment of compromise opens the door for satanic operation and slavery.
PRAYER POINT: LORD, help me to remain in constant fellowship with Your so that my victory will endure.
