MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “But now the Lord my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence (1kgs.5:4)
READ: 1 KINGS 5:1-5
And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David. 2 And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying, 3 Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet. 4 But now the LORD my God hath given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent. 5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
Saul the first king of Israel began his reign in the battle field. After his anointing, he went back to tending the sheep of his father until the challenge of Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came. Nahash had challenged the men of Jabesh Gilead to produce a deliverer or have their eyes gauged out (1Sam.11:2). It was Saul’s prompt response to this challenge and the outstanding victory that gave him acceptance before the people. For David, even after his anointing he was not recognized. The first time he came to the palace was as guitar boy to play for the king so he could be healed from his occasional madness.
The next time was in the battle field against Goliath. When he eventually took over the throne, there were battles on every side. David fought battles until he was old (2Sam.21:15). We have the record of one of the battles he fought as an old man, his hands were weak and he was almost killed by a Philistine giant (2Sam.21:16). But for Solomon, mercy and grace established him. He had peace round about him; no battles and no evil occurrence. May this be your testimony this season. The Lord shall surround you with peace and bless the works of your hands. Adversaries shall be far from you. Because you loved the Lord, He will cause even your enemies to be at peace with you. The peace Solomon enjoyed was paid for by his father David, may you pay the price of peace for your offspring in Jesus name.
TURNING POINT: The peace Solomon enjoyed was paid for by his father David, may you pay the price of peace for your offspring in Jesus name.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, give me peace roundabout.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: IS.65,66; 2THESS.1
