MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” (Isa.40:8)
READ: HEB. 1:10-12
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: 11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; 12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
There is a worship song that hit the stalls of gospel music, few years ago. It became so popular that leaders were almost turning it into a regular anthem, but as I look through the scriptures, I discovered that the wordings of that song were unscriptural. “Ancient of days, as old as you are, as old as you are, you will never change”. The wordings of this song are a clear contradiction to God’s unchanging nature.
“You will roll them up like an old coat, they will fade away like an old clothing but you are always the same, you will never grow old (Heb.1:2NLT).
Aging is a process of change in a downward order. Age has to do with wears and tears. The effect of aging in certain individuals include, short sight or total blindness; weakness of bones and muscles; and accumulation of fats, cholesterols and other harmful substances as a result of the malfunctioning of some vital organs due to old age. Aging is associated with weakness, loss of potency, and vision. Our meditation verse, for today, tells us that these attributes are common to man; but the Word of God does not fade, change or lose its power. This is a faith booster: an anchor for the souls of those who have found a resting place in the Word of His power. You know sometimes, due to our human frailties, we are tempted to judge the Word of God from a human perspective. Few years after the birth of Ishmael, God returned to Abraham, with a reassurance of the coming of Isaac; but at this point, Abraham had already settled with the alternative. He laughed and simply said to God, please let Ishmael live before you (Gen.17:18). In other words, he had concluded that whatever that delayed the coming of Isaac until then, may as well carry the day. God is called the unchanging changer because He is capable of changing every circumstance, but nothing changes Him.
TURNING POINT: God is called the unchanging changer because He is capable of changing every circumstance, but nothing changes Him.
PRAYER POINT: Father, I surrender to Your unchanging word, let Your will be done.
