Fresh Manna 26 June
MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Tremble thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of God of Jacob”(Ps.114:7)
READ: PS.114:1-8
When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language; 2 Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion. 3 The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back. 4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. 5 What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back? 6 Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs? 7 Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob; 8 Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
Awesome is the word that comes closer to reality in describing God’s majesty, His deeds and attributes. He is awesome in mercy that is why a condemned criminal who was already hanging on a cross to pay the supreme price for his sins and be banished eternally from the presence of God to the burning lake of fire, suddenly received mercy and headed to paradise in few seconds (Lk.23:39-43).
Saul of Tarsus, the enemy of the church, persecuting the saints and standing in agreement to watch Stephen die for preaching Christ, suddenly received mercy after his encounter with the Lord of the church and become the most popular preacher in the New Testament era. Acts 8:1,9:4-6). Our God is awesome in power that was why the Red sea couldn’t stop His people from matching forward. The hungry lions could not eat his prophet. The burning fiery furnace heated seven times, could not hurt those who trusted Him (Dan.3:19). He is the awesome controller of the affairs of the Earth that is why Kings who rebelled against His authority hardly lived to tell the story. Pharaoh perished in the Red sea (Exo.14:27-28).
Nebuchadnezzar turned to an animal and lived in the bush for seven years (Dan.4:33-34). Herod died in the midst of the celebration and was eaten by worms in the presence of His subjects. He is the awesome rod of offence, those who fall upon Him are broken into pieces but those whom He fall upon are grinded to powder. The beauty of His awesome grace is that He is mindful of children at all times.
