Fresh Manna 25 May
MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.’’ (Judg.5:2)
READ: JUDGES 5:1-2
Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying, 2 Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.
For the past few days, looking at the fourth chapter of the judges, we have discovered that God raised great vessels in other to terminate the captivity of His people and give them peace. First was Deborah, the prophetess and judge, who was also a wife and a mother. The life of Deborah is the picture of total woman, who maintains a balance between the different spheres of her life, so God is glorified at the end.
Through her Barak, the captain of Israel, received courage to go and fight the LORD’s battle. Barak insisted that Deborah must be in the picture, representing God’s presence. Then came the timely intervention of Jael the wife of Heber. A Mere house help who used all that she had; a bottle of milk and a tent peg to bring down God’s enemy. In accomplishing God’s purpose, everyone is important but; not minding the role we play, we must learn to give God the glory and also recognize the input of our partners.
Deborah returned from the war with voice of thankgiving knowing that it could only be God. When we begin to recognize God as the architect of whatever victory we have gained, we make room for greater testimonies. Appreciate the work of God in your life by testifying to His goodness in words or songs, as we see in the life Deborah. It can also be by humbly recognizing Him as the true source of all things, closing all doors against pride and vain glory.
TURNING POINT: When we begin to recognize God as the architect of whatever victory we have gained, we make room for greater testimonies.
PRAYER POINT: LORD, grant me the wisdom that is required to fulfill Your purpose for my life.
