MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. (Rom.8:1)
READ: ROM. 8: 1-11
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Walking in the spirit means being controlled, led, directed and guided by the Spirit. This is a level of spiritual exposure, where your life comes under the total control of the Holy Spirit. At this point, you don’t go where you want to go, say what you want to say or react as suits your ego rather, you listen to His voice in total obedience. In our meditation scripture for today, we see one great benefit of living the Spirit led life. “There is therefore now no condemnation”. Condemnation means to be reprehensible, wrong or evil, usually against the individual in question. Simply put, to pronounce guilty.
What this scripture is saying simply means that when you are walking in the Spirit, He helps you to live according to God’s will, walking in Love and bearing His fruit in you. Paul puts it this way “Against such there is no law.” (Gal.5:22). The spirit of God is Holy; His name is Holy Spirit. When He leads you, falsehood, and wickedness cannot be found in you, therefore Satan cannot accuse you of any wrong. Some people think that walking in the Spirit ends with speaking in tongues and maybe working of miracles. They testify of how much God is using them and the great prophecies that they have released which have eventually come to pass. Beloved, by their fruits you shall know them (Matt.7:20). Walking in the Spirit means walking with God. It is quite different from working for God. The latter will earn you man’s recognition and rewards but the former is your ticket to eternal life.
TURNING POINT: Walking in the Spirit helps you to live according to God’s Will, walking in love and bearing His fruit in you.
PRAYER POINT: Holy Spirit divine, take over my life and lead me to Your Presence.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: PS. 119:1-48; 1COR.3
