MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Which say, stand by thyself, come not near to me; for am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.” (Isa.65:5)
READ: JUD.1:24-25
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Spiritual pride can be better be explained in the Words of this scripture, “but let no more man think himself more highly than he ought to think as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). In the church or any group, it is not difficult to spot those who are infected with this disease. They always sit in the seat of teachers. In every discussion theirs are the most correct and must be accepted by all. They see themselves as spiritual guides and make disciples for themselves. Their greatest weakness is their unteachable and argumentative spirit.
Like any other form of pride, spiritual pride is the most dangerous because it robs its victims the privilege of learning from others to build up their own faith. The Bible stated clearly that “iron sharpens iron”(prov.27:17). This means that we all need each other to grow and mature. No matter your spiritual height and weight, you still need other people to get to your destination. Sometimes God may decide to visit through the babbling of spiritual babies. It takes humility of heart to listen and benefits from such message. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees because of their holier than thou attitude. He will not condone such attitude even today because; He has given to everyone a measure of grace. Spiritual pride closes the door of genuine fellowship with the Holy Spirit and the brethren. This is because fellowship flows only where there is simplicity and brotherly love.
TURNING POINT: Spiritual pride closes the door of genuine fellowship with the Holy Spirit and the brethren.
PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, deliver my soul from the delusions of spiritual pride.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: PS.31.32,33: ACTS 21:15-40
