Fresh Manna 21 October
MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches and honour, so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. (Kgs.3:13)
READ: 1 KINGS.3:11-15
11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. 14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. 15 And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
Our God is the only wise God, He understands our frame. He knows our desires and limitations. That is why Paul, by revelation said, He is able to do exceeding abundantly more than we can think or ask according to the power that works in us (Eph.3:20). Though Solomon did not ask for power, wealth or the lives of his enemies, God knew that these were issues of concern. Praying in God’s will means being able to see the large picture as it affects God and His kingdom. God was pleased that this new king of Israel was not a selfish and ostentatious fellow. God answered the prayer of Solomon in a most amazing manner.
He gave him wisdom beyond the ordinary. He blessed him with wealth, power, glory and splendor beyond all the kings of his time. Total surrender to God and His purpose in the place of prayer will never reduce you, it increases you. It increases your greatness before the Lord and releases upon you unusual favour and grace that makes you outstanding. Throughout his days, Solomon never fought any war but great kingdoms and their kings were paying tribute to him. He had so much favour that Hiram, the king of Tyre was willing to supply all the timbers needed for the building of the temple without payment. His splendor and majesty was such that the queen of Sheber had to leave her own country to come with her entourage to listen to his wisdom and see the splendor of his kingdom. Praying in the will of God is the key to great abundance.
TURNING POINT: Total surrender to God and His purpose in the place of prayer will never reduce you, it increases you.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to always seek Your Will in the place of prayer.
