MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.”(Judg.3:30).
READ: JUDGES 3:24-30
24 When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.
25 And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
26 And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.
27 And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.
28 And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.
29 And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.
30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.
God is interested in the peace and joy of His people. When Ehud killed the King of Moab secretly escaped back to the land of Israel, he sounded the trumpet and the people came out to fight against their enemies. Here again we see the power of oneness. The Israelites came with him from hill country and he became their leader (Jug.3:27).
Though God raised Ehud as a deliverer, Bible does not record any official crowning and inauguration, yet when he sounded the ram’s horn, the people came out as one man and submitted to his leadership. This is the simple reason why so many people are still in their captivity. They despise the deliverer that God has anointed to bring them deliverance.
The Bible described Ehud as a left-handed man. He may not have the looks of a King but he was anointed by God for a time like this. This act of unity and co-operation with God’s choice brought them into an era of peace that lasted as long as Israel continued with God, walking in obedience. Perfect peace is possible; joy is also available only remain connected to the LORD.
Do not be afraid to confront the enemies of your destiny. A single battle fought decisively and won can give you the peace of a life time.
