MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matt.7:2)
READ: MATT. 7: 1-6
Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. 6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
The word hypocrite simply means one who puts up a false appearance of virtue or religion. A hypocrite acts in contradiction to his or her stated belief. Being judgmental is a hypocritical act because most times you are guilty of the same things you condemn in others, and may even be worse. The truth is that God knows who you are. He knows your strength and weaknesses; all your human frailties and flaws are open before Him. Rather than try to put on a mask to cover up your mistakes be real.
Be you and own up to your insufficiency. Being real is a mark of genuine conversion and steady growth in grace. The Pharisees of Jesus’ days never gained His commendation because they were always full of themselves. They were always handy to judge and condemn other people, pretending to be the best. Jesus called them white painted graves (Matthew 23:27). They appeared very clean and devoted to God outwardly but within their hearts, all forms of wickedness and uncleanness lurked. Mr. Preacher, sis evangelist, whatever your title, please be yourself. Being real means accepting people the way they are, and giving them opportunity to become better. It means supporting and strengthening the weak knowing that you are also vulnerable in certain ways. We are not called to judge the body of Christ but to build up and edify her unto perfection. Correction must be done in love, giving no room to the devil. Yes, we all have received grace to overcome the world, sin and Satan. In case you have arrived the pinnacle of glory, lend a hand to those who are at the foot of the ladder so they too can climb, that is how to be real.
TURNING POINT: We are not called to judge the body of Christ but to build up and edify her unto perfection.
PRAYER POINT: Father, reveal to me who I am before You.
