MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim King of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathain eight years,” (Judg.3:8)
READ: JUDGES 3:7-11
7 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their God, and served Baalim and the groves.
8 Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushanrishathaim eight years.
9 And when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.
10 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.
11 And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
Yesterday we saw that the people of Israel backslide completely and joined the people of the land to do wickedness. No sin is without consequences. No matter how rational and sincere your reasons may be, there is always a bitter end to every step in the negative direction from God’s purpose.
God did warn the people of Israel of the fate that awaited them if eventually they decided to follow the ways of the Heathen. “Therefore, shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he has destroyed. thee.” (Deut. 28:48)
Are you surprised that the people of Israel had all these warnings written down yet they went after other gods? Is it different from the present situation of the church and of the world today? Despite all the messages from the altar, the internet, and revelations from both the living and the dead, many are still hardened by their wickedness; because to them, God is a loving Father.
The Word of God is everything to everyone who cares to learn; a history book; a road map for all the pilgrims of hope; and a textbook to all the students of truth and hope. Don’t let God’s imminent, severe judgment catch up with you. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Sin will make you lose control of the things you should control and become a servant to those who should serve you.

PRAYER POINT: LORD, deliver me from every spirit of disobedience in Jesus name Amen.
