MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also”. (2Tim. 2:2).
READ: PROV.11:24-26
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. 25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. 26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
In every football match, if the midfield is poorly coordinated, there is little or no chance at all for that team to do well. One of the problems we noticed in the book of Judges in the Old Testament was that Joshua and the elders that outlived him were not able to teach the next generations the ways of the Lord. the effect of this gap was that the next generation turned to idols and attracted the wrath of God. This is the same challenge facing today’s church. We read and even see some great ministers and ministries that have wayward children. In fact, some churches fall prey to satanic doctrines and manipulations the moment the founding fathers are no more. This gap must be bridged.
The formula is simple. Received the undiluted truth of the Word of God and pass it down uncompromisingly to those coming after you and encourage them to do the same. Every leader has followers. Paul was the spiritual father to Timothy; he passed the truth to him. Timothy had elders working with him so that truth must also get to them. The elders in turn must communicate the truth to other faithful followers. Down the line until the truth gets to the grass root. The existence and health of the church is so connected with our willingness and commitment to keep the ball rolling from generation to generation.
TURNING POINT: The existence and health of the church is so connected with our willingness and commitment to keep the ball rolling from generation to generation.
PRAYER POINT: Father, help me to be faithful in my assignments of passing on the truth.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: EZRA.6,7,8; JN.21
