MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you and ye shall be witness unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”(Acts.1:8)
READ: ACTS 1:4-8
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
To empower means to enable, to equip, and to prepare someone for something. Empowerment comes in different forms. For instance, to do business, you give training and capital. Whatever skills you learn empowers you to practice in that field. Throughout His thirty-three and half years on earth, Jesus did nothing else but to teach and prepare His disciples take over from Him. Finally, the day came for Him to hand over to them. It was the day of ascension; they had followed Him to mount olive to bid Him farewell. Before He left, He gave them this all-important instruction. “Wait till you are filled with the power from on high (Acts.1:4). As the Apostles obeyed these instructions at the upper room, the Holy Spirit came upon them and the story of their lives and ministry changed. Child of God, we are here on a mission. We are the ambassadors of Christ. But God has not left us powerless.
The Holy Spirit is giving to us as a guide, energizer and director of operations. Are you feeling powerless or inadequate for the assignment that you have received? Then go back to the Lord and receive His grace. The Holy Spirit’s power and presence in your life is ministry made easy at whatever level. With Him leading the way, you cannot fail.
TURNING POINT: The Holy Spirit’s power and presence in your life is ministry made easy at whatever level. With Him leading the way, you cannot fail.
PRAYER POINT: Father, I receive Your Power to do exploit in Jesus name. Amen.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: PS.13,14,15,16; ACTS 18
