MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the Lord, that he might fulfill the word of the Lord, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh”. (2Kgs.2:27)
READ: 1 KINGS 2:26-27
26 And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the LORD God before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted. 27 So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the LORD; that he might fulfil the word of the LORD, which he spake concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.
In the recent times, we have heard so much about family curses and the limitations they place on individuals, stopping them from reaching their zenith in life. But I want to say that such curses or foundational issues do not act in isolation. There are tendencies, actions and involvements that empower them to fulfill their evil agenda in the life of an individual.
The prophecy quoted in our meditation scripture was (1Sam.2:27-36). As a result of the wickedness and abominations committed by the sons of Eli, God decreed that He was going to wipe out the remembrance of Eli and his household from the priesthood. Abiatha was a descendant of that family with that evil prophecy hanging above his head, but he pitched his tent with David, God’s chosen general and was faithfully performing his priestly duties. For as long as he continued in faith and faithfulness, that prophecy never played out. He had a successful priestly career under David. He was the son of Ahimelech, the priest of Nob who gave David the sword of Goliath and food for himself and his young men (1sam.22:18-23). Abiathar’s downfall came when he began to dwindle in his loyalty and commitment to the right cause. He fell to Adonijah’s conspiracy and lost the priesthood in fulfillment of prophecy. I don’t know the evil prophecies that may be hanging over your head. They shall not stand if only you will separate yourself by seeking deliverance and following the Lord consistently. For as long as you remain in the light, darkness has no power over you.
TURNING POINT: For as long as you remain in the light, darkness has no power over you.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to walk in truth in Jesus name.
