MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And the Lord raised them up Judges, then the LORD was with the Judge, and deliver them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the Judge. For it repented the LORD because of their groaning by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. ” (Jugdg.2:18)
READ: JUDGES 2:16-19
16 Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
17 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.
18 And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.
19 And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
Throughout the book of Judges, we see God showing up once and again to deliver the people from the hands of their enemy who had taken them captive because of their iniquities.
The once victorious, indomitable Israel became prey in the hands of the surrounding nations, all because God has forsaking His people. Sin indeed is a reproach, not to some people but to any person, so many people today are broken and battered by Sin.
The numerous cases of suicide we hear of and even see in our environment today proves that so many people are in the valley of despondency. Some laboring under the heavy load of guilt and shame, think that the only way out is suicide. No!
Our Father, the God of grace, is compassionate. Men may be giving up on you but God has not. It does not matter how dirty your past is. You may have falling and falling and falling over again. Jesus still loves you. He comes to you today through this daily devotional to tell you that He is not yet through with you.
The only reason why some people remain in their defeated state is when they fail to acknowledge their sins and repent. we serve a compassionate God. He cares about you, come back to Him today.
