MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Therefore, leaving the principle and doctrines of Christ, let us go unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.”(Heb. 6:1)
READ: HEB. 6:1-3
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.
Growth simply means development, increase, advancement towards maturity. Spiritual growth is not a function of time but a function of commitment and discipline. Spiritual growth is not possible until the need of growth is realized and appropriate steps taken. Looking at growth from physical view point, there are things that enhances growth. For instance, if a child must grow, that child must be well fed, kept in a good environment and be free from diseases. The principle applies to spiritual growth. God said to Joshua, “This book of the law shall not depart from thy mouth, but thou shall meditate therein day and night that thou mightest observe to do according to all that is written therein for then shall thou make thy way prosperous and then thou shall have good success. (Josh.1:8).
Spiritual growth begins from a conscious committed effort in studying and meditating on the Word of God. Children do not just grow because they eat food; they grow only when they are giving a balance diet. Every spiritual giant you see today is a student of the Word. It is not enough to listen or read the Word. You must learn and consciously involve yourself in the acts of meditation in the Word and practice of godliness. You must also speak the Word; out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. If your heart is filled with the Word of God, then you naturally speak the language of the Word. The volume of the Word you consume on a daily basis, determines your speed and stability in spiritual growth.
TURNING POINT: Every spiritual giant you see today is a student of the Word.
PRAYER POINT: Father, grant me understanding of the Word as I study that I may grow there by in Jesus name, Amen.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: JOB.40,41,42; ACTS 15:22-41
