MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “But godliness with contentment is a great gain.”(1Tim.1:6)
READ: 1TIM.1:6
From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling.
The Merrian Webster English Dictionary defines contentment as the state of being contented. To be contented doesn’t really mean absence of need. It does not show absolute satisfaction. Contentment is a disciplined mindset of satisfaction with the measure that is available for now. Lack of contentment which leads to false living and showmanship is the reason for the many horrendous crime witnessed in today’s world? The evil of materialism and love of money we see today, was present even in the time of apostles, therefore Apostle Paul encouraged his son, Pastor Timothy to stand firm in declaring the gospel of truth.
Lack of contentment is the mother of negative emotions such as unhappiness, sadness, feeling of misery, dejection and anger etc. When this lingers for a long time in the heart of a man, the victim becomes a schemer just to satisfy his lust. Contentment is the act of faith for God to turn things around. Being contented does not make you less ambitious neither does it kill your dream of becoming better in other areas. The spirit of contentment works with the spirit of temperance to produce a perfect and calculated individual, who is not moved by whatever that is happening, knowing that God has a great plan for all His children. A contented man rejoices at the prosperity of others knowing that there is time for everything. Contentment says, “Though i am not where I should be, I know am not where I used to be. God who took me from where I was, is able to bring me to where I ought to be.” A contented heart is a grateful heart.
TURNING POINT: A contented heart rejoices at the prosperity of others knowing that there is time for everything.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, baptize me with the spirit of contentment and gratitude.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: JOB.33,34; ACTS 13:24-52
