MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him” (Isa.11:2a)
READ: ISA.11:1-5
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
Eight is the number of new beginning and today is the first day of the eight month. We give God all the glory for His guidance and protection upon us all in Jesus name. May His name be praised forever more, Amen. Looking at our meditation scripture for today we see the prophecy concerning the Messiah of Israel, Jesus the Savior of the world. ”And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him.” All through the scriptures especially in the prophetic books we find this expressions “And the spirit of the Lord came upon him”. When Moses presented the seventy elders to the Lord for the inauguration of their office as elders in Israel, God took up the spirit that was upon Moses and gave it unto them. The scripture recorded that they began to prophesize and did not cease (Num.11:25).
In the book of Judges, it was recorded that the Spirit of the Lord came upon Daniel, Gideon and Samson. By this presence they received power and boldness to fight, conquer the enemy and bring deliverance to their people. Concerning Saul, the scripture recorded that the moment Samuel anointed him, another Spirit (the Spirit of the Lord) came upon him and he was changed into another man (1Sam.10:6-9). Time and space will fail me to talk about David, Elijah, Elisha, and all the prophets who operated under this divine unction. One thing is common about all of them, They were extra-ordinary men. No one receives the visitation of God’s Spirit and remain the same. The Spirit of The Lord is the divine energy that opens you up for supernatural encounters and manifestations.
