Police have arrested four men for allegedly impersonating the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to defraud a retired military officer and other victims of over N150 million.
One of the suspects, Yashim Kajang, was apprehended on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at his residence on Martin Elegoma Street, Nigeria Army Post Housing, Phase 1, Kurudu, Abuja. He is accused of deceiving a retired Major General, A.K. Ibrahim, along with several others, under the pretext of facilitating land transactions in the Guzape II Cadastral Zone of Abuja.
According to police findings, Kajang allegedly convinced the victims that he had close ties with the FCT Minister and officials in the Department of Lands. He reportedly collected over N150 million in exchange for purported land documents relating to Plot 1985 in Guzape II, which is said to measure approximately three hectares, as well as other plots.
During interrogation, Kajang named three accomplices—Stephen Mhambe and Danladi Jatau, both reportedly linked to the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA), and Terngu Ipaven, a resident of Durumi 2, Abuja.
He further confessed that the trio allegedly provided him with sensitive land-related data and information used to execute the fraudulent scheme.
All four suspects are currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
