Former Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt, Engr. Gesi Asamaowei, has awarded scholarships to 100 students of the institution under the Engr. Gesi Asamaowei Scholarship Scheme.
The scholarships were formally presented during a ceremony for the issuance of letters of award, where Engr. Asamaowei, alongside other strategic partners of the University, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the academic development of students.
He explained that the initiative was designed to ease the financial burden of school charges on beneficiaries, enabling them to focus fully on their studies. According to him, the scheme would also help reduce the financial pressure on parents and guardians, allowing them to allocate resources to other important aspects of their children’s development.
Members of the University community expressed appreciation to Engr. Gesi Asamaowei for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful in supporting students’ educational pursuits.
