Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State and former Director-General of Nyesom Wike’s governorship campaign, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, has been appointed and inaugurated as the Rivers State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the grassroots mobilisation structure for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Akawor’s appointment marks another major political shift in the state’s evolving landscape, as he takes on a key role in galvanising support for the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors are expected to drive door-to-door engagement, voter education, and community-level mobilisation in support of the Tinubu administration’s agenda and its bid for a second term.
Akawor, speaking shortly after his inauguration, pledged to deploy his political experience and network to advance the objectives of the group and strengthen the President’s support base across the state.
