Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, says Rivers students studying in different higher institutions should forget about bursary as it makes no difference in their lives.

Speaking during the commissioning of the Secretariat of the National Union of Rivers State Students at the Rivers State University on Monday, Wike said he has never heard of bursary before.

He urged the students to focus on reality, adding that sometimes most persons leave what they are supposed to do and confine themselves to irrelevant things.

“I attended the University of Port Harcourt, I attended this university [RSU]. I went to law school. I have never heard of anything called bursary. Never. N10,000, N20,000 cannot make any difference in your life. We must focus on reality,” he said.

“It cannot make a difference in your life. How much is school fees in a year? N100,000. What can bursary do?” he added.

He further explained that students allow themselves to be deceived by politicians to go and block government house for no just cause.
