Figures released from the 2025 flood dashboard show that as of August 16, at least 165 people have died, 82 are missing, and 138 others injured following severe flooding across 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The disaster has affected more than 119,000 people, displacing 43,936 and destroying or damaging 8,594 homes and 8,278 farmlands in 43 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Women and children make up the majority of victims, with 53,314 children and 36,573 women affected, alongside 24,600 men, 5,304 elderly persons, and 1,863 persons with disabilities.
The hardest-hit states include Imo, Rivers, Abia, Borno, and Kaduna, while others affected are Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Ondo, Sokoto, and the FCT.
