A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Andrew Uchendu, has pleaded with the Rivers state govermment to with immediate effect dredge the Ntawogba River to reduce the effect of flood around the GRA and Diobu axis of Port Harcourt.
Uchendu, whose home at the GRA Phase 3 axis was flooded due to the heavy downpour yesterday, said construction work at the Sani Abacha road worsened the flood in the area.
The former Senator, said he has been unable to leave his home for days due to the flood caused by the heavy downpour.
He also pleaded with the state government to improve drainage in the area by unblocking all blocked water channels to allow for free flow of water.
He explained that the flood is the worst he had seen, in the area, in the past seventeen years.
