Chairman of the Rivers State Civil Society Organization, Enefaa Georgewill has reacted to a statement by the state government that dumping of refuse in drainages and building on canals are responsible for flash flood in the state.
The state government had yesterday, blamed residents for the flood, advising them to imbibe good sanitary habits.
But, Mr Georgewill in a statement said it is the duty of government to organize society.
He said the government should blame themselves for not having a scientific way of managing waste, as they are fond of calling off environment sanitation due to one activity or the other.
“It’s the duty of government to organise society. A government that don’t have a scientific way of managing waste and fond of calling off public sanitation because of PDP congress or burial of a government friendly Chief, should heap the blame on it’s doorstep,” he said.
“We voted your government to fix problems not to complain problem to us. Get To Work Or Resign,” he added.
