A group of women in Rivers State have expressed outrage after claiming they were misled into attending an event purportedly organized to welcome Hajiya Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, only to be met by Mrs Theresa Ibas, wife of the state’s Sole Administrator.
The women, under the aegis of the Rivers Women United for Solidarity (RWUS), said they were mobilized in large numbers under the impression that the event was being held on behalf of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and expected to receive her representative, Hajiya Fatima Abbas.
Instead, they were reportedly surprised and angered to see Mrs. Ibas presiding. According to the group, Mrs. Ibas worsened the situation by referring to them as “my women,” a remark they found offensive, noting that her husband was not elected by the people.
In a statement signed by RWUS media representative, Comrade Glory N. Sunday, the women reaffirmed their support for Senator Remi Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Initiative, distancing themselves from the state administrator’s leadership.
