Port Harcourt, March 18, 2025 – A fire broke out at the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC)-operated Trans Niger Delta Pipeline, near the border of Kpor and Bodo communities, the Rivers State Police Command confirmed.
Security operatives on routine patrol detected the blaze and immediately alerted SPDC, which promptly shut down the affected section of the pipeline and activated emergency response measures. Authorities say the situation is now under control, with no immediate threats to residents or the environment.
The police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and have taken two individuals into custody for questioning. The Command reassured the public of its commitment to identifying and prosecuting those responsible for any acts of sabotage.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and vigilant. The police encouraged anyone with useful information regarding the incident or suspicious activities to report to the nearest station or call the provided emergency hotlines.
