The Chairman of Emouha Local Government Area, Hon. Chidi Lloyd says the fight in Ibaa community community was a supremacy battle between two cult groups over collection of illegal fee known as “matching ground” from illegal oil refiners in the area.
Lloyd, disclosed this in a chat with journalists shortly after the incident today.
The council boss described the incident as shameful, adding that those involved are not members of the Emouha, OSPAC.
Hon. Lloyd also said he was yet to confirm if anyone was killed in the fight.
He stated that his administration will do everything possible to end illegal oil refining activity in Ibaa, noting that Ibaa is not the only community in the area.
According to reports, four persons were killed during the incident this morning.
