The Federal Government announced on Wednesday that the allocation for Rivers State will be released to the state’s Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd).
Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. He clarified that the funds would be made available upon request by the administrator.
Fagbemi also defended President Bola Tinubu’s decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers, describing it as a necessary step to prevent a total breakdown of order.
Additionally, the minister dismissed claims that former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, played a role in the political crisis that led to the emergency declaration.
