The Federal Government has commenced the repatriation of 3,000 Nigerians from Chad to Borno State, according to Aliyu Tijani Ahmed, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI).
Ahmed made the announcement during a Technical Working Group Meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, stating that the NCFRMI had provided food and non-food items to support the returnees.
He further disclosed that an agreement had been signed between Nigeria, neighboring countries, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to facilitate the safe and organized repatriation of Nigerians living abroad.
