The Federal Government has pledged to pay the ₦81 billion owed to N-Power beneficiaries for unpaid allowances dating back to 2022 and 2023.

The development follows a closed-door meeting held on Tuesday, July 22, at the National Assembly, chaired by Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau. The meeting brought together representatives of the aggrieved beneficiaries, their legal counsel Abba Hikima, and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

Speaking after the meeting, Senator Barau described the engagement as “productive,” confirming that the government had commenced plans to settle the outstanding payments.

“The beneficiaries came to the Senate seeking help. I contacted the minister, and he responded swiftly. We’ve had a fruitful dialogue, and the government has expressed strong commitment to offsetting the backlog,” Barau said.

He added that the beneficiaries have agreed to suspend their legal action following the government’s assurances.
