The Federal Government of Nigeria, has pleaded with Resident Doctors not to embark on its planned strike action which is to start from April 1, 2021.
The National Association of Resident Doctors NARD, had in a statement threatened to embark on a strike action, due to failure of government to meet its demands.
Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige during a meeting with the leadership of NARD yesterday, pleaded with them not to go ahead with the strike, as the country’s health sector is in a bad place at the moment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ngige urged NARD, to consider what majority of Nigerians in dire need of medical attention, will go through if the strike action is carried out.
The Minister, also noted that majority of the issues brought before the government by the association, were almost resolved before the strike threat.
